T Stands For Tuesday

Hello my Tuesday Friends!
What a week we have had here! Temperatures in the 100° s and heat index about 12 to 15 degrees higher 😨
We have finally had a break in the weather with much needed rain and cooler temps!
Even though we stayed inside the heat just straps the energy right out of you. So all I got done was knitting and reading.
The knitting is coming along... only 5 more inches to go 😅 I may actually get it done this month. I started it the first week of July.

We are not going to count the mistakes in it. I should have picked a simpler pattern to brush up those forgotten skills on. But I like it.
There was not much cooking done last week. Lots of salads and sandwiched and a couple of meal eaten out. One of our outings was to Denny's for their fantastic breakfast meals.
With coffee of course...

There's lots of dead heading to be done in the flower beds.. The heat was hard on a lot of the plants.

....and and the tomatoes are really starting to come in now. Especially the cherry ones. I'm giving them away by the bags full :)
The blackberries have been loaded but it hard to beat the Japanese Beetles to them . I have gotten several good sized batches picked though so I can make some blackberry syrup and a cobbler or two. The syrup is my favorite though. I love it on ice cream ...YUM !!!!
Today's Random Thoughts

Be sure to check out the other great folks over at Elizabeth's party!

  3. I'm playing catch-up because the electricity went out on my block for about five hours tonight. It's been so hot here, too that I was getting worried about having heat exhaustion. Not sure if I was more worried about the internet or my AC.

The weather is what most of us are talking about here in the midwest. I saw a news crew earlier this afternoon who went into the stands at a baseball game with their meters. The seats were 146 F and the concrete in the shade was 129 F. The game was still played, though.

Your knitting is great. I certainly don't see any mistakes. It's looking good, albeit HOT!

You are harvesting a bounty of food. I've had NO tomatoes yet. There are no bees to pollinate the flowers, so I attribute it partly to that. My blackberries are nearly dead. What the birds don't get, just shrivel and die on the vines. I'm thinking of cutting mine back FAR this autumn. You are doing something right, because you are harvesting some wonderful fruit and veggies. I'm in awe and envious.

The first time I went to Denny's was on my birthday. They give a free birthday breakfast if you show proper ID. Thanks for sharing your coffee at Denny's, your incredible harvest, and your knitting with us for T this Tuesday.

BTW, I found your e-mail on your profile page, so didn't even have to ask for it.

  5. Wow it sounds very hot where you are but if it helped your knitting to grow that is fine. I love the pattern and the colours you have chosen.

What great mugs at the breakfast place.

Have a very happy T Day

  6. I can see how that heat would sap your energy, that's hot! It's a good idea to stay indoors and your knitting is amazing with those beautiful colours and pattern. The comments on the Denny's mugs made me smile and your garden fruit and veggies are amazing. Your blackcurrant syrup on ice cream sounds delicious, I always make blackcurrant jelly with mine as my hubby loves it with peanut butter on toast 😁. I smiled at the negative committee thought for today - perfect! Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J 😊

  7. I don't think we understand the high temperatures you get here in the UK. But it does seem to help your gardens to produce great fruits and vegetables The knitting is growing and looks lovely so far.
    Happy T day.

  9. Look at that wonderful garden produce-yum! No ripe tomatoes here yet :( yes, the heat does take its toll on people and the plants. I've been trying to keep up with the deadheading. Such a cheerful mug! And your knitting looks fab to me.
Stay cool and happy T day!

  10. We got some rain here, but it just increased the humidity lol. It's been hot everywhere, it seems. Your garden looks great in spite of the scorching heat.

I love blackberries and tomatoes, and my mouth is watering at the sight of yours. I'd have trouble not eating most of the blackberries before I got them into the house ;)

    Happy T Tuesday

  12. Your knitting looks lovely, Carol. You're the only one who will ever know where the mistakes are.

Harvesting is the fun part of gardening, IMO. Harvesting and planting. I could just skip the stuff in between ;-)

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

  14. That was some crazy heat! We only got a quarter of an inch but the cooler days were great. Storms coming in tonight and I just saw two 59 degree nights after the front pushes through... fingers crossed! Your garden bounty looks awesome. Most of our garden just burned up with the heat and the Fox Squirrels got the tomatoes! Blackberry cobbler... oh yeah! Heat... a great excuse to hit Denny's... :)

  16. Wow your knitting looks great! I can se how much dead heading there is! I actually took off some of mine that I thought were going off as I knew I would be away from them for a while! I love seeing your produce - my son gave me a tour of his small patch ! Love the quotes - I am all for RAKs - helped out a young man last week who was trying to use his phone to pay for some petrol (it was only a small amount for his bike) and it wouldn't work - the guy at the counter was getting quite angry - I felt rather embarrassed though as the young man was so grateful - kept telling me I could come to his work place to collect it - I told him just to pass the kindness on! Belated Happy T day! Chrisx
