HELLO MY TUESDAY FRIENDS!
I know I've been missing in action and didn't get around to visit a lot of you before I disappeared. I had to make an emergency trip to my parents. My dad decided to go outside in the 98 degree weather and build himself a ramp to store his Hover-Round in the shed. He passed out and then refused to go to the hospital for 2 days. Even though he was having extreme difficulty breathing and felt too weak to walk. It finally got so bad that he relented and went and at that point his heart rate was only 24 and they had to do an emergency Pacemaker surgery. The first one they put in was an external temporary one because they thought he wouldn't need it once he recovered from the heat exhaustion and dehydration. However he ended up having to have a permanent one installed anyway. Then his lungs began to fill with fluid and he was in extreme pain. It took several more days of medications and respiratory therapy before he was able to come home. He's real grumpy and real angry that he has to stay on oxygen 24/7. He's giving my Mom and Sister a tough way to go. I feel bad that I can't be there longer but I had to get back to work.
The garden suffered from neglect while I was gone. My potted plants on the patio bit the dust and I don't think there is hope for resurrection.
The Native plants hung in there but they were very thirsty too.
The weeds are thriving :( some of them have gotten 2 - 3 feet tall. I cleared one flowerbed and hope to do another one tomorrow.
Half of the veggie garden is full of tall grass :(
My work is cut out for me for the whole month I think. At least the heat wave is over now we just need rain.
Here's my drink photo.... what's left of my morning coffee setting next to one of the watermelons in my garden. It's growing standing up on it's end rather than laying on it's side like normal. Thought it was funny :)
Today's Random Thoughts
Sorry if I rambled a bit.... my brain is still frazzled from last week.
So be sure and check out the other folks at the tea party :) I'm sure their brains are still working.
♥
You weren't joking when you said your husband didn't water your plants and the grass and weeds had taken over your garden. It doesn't even look like the same space. You really have your work cut out for you, so I can relate to how you feel.
ReplyDeleteI was sorry to read about your father. He sounds like me. I don't like doctors or hospitals, and will avoid them at all costs. I hope he improves soon, especially to the point where he doesn't need the oxygen 24/7.
Your surprise lilies and coneflowers are looking great. They don't seem to mind that they didn't get watered. At least yours are standing up straight, which is more than I can say for mine after the rains we had for two days.
That watermelon is really growing funny. Will it ever get round, or continue to grow in that shape? It's quite different, that's for sure.
I think the second random thought was picked from my brain because if I can't spell a word and spell check can't figure it out, I DO change the sentence. And I laughed hard at that last random thought.
Thanks for sharing your garden update and your coffee with us for T this nearly Tuesday. Please let your father know we are thinking of him.
Glad your Dad is really on the med and back home. Sorry that your garden suffered in the heat, you will have a lot to do now tending to it all. Look after yourself, happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear your dad is back at home and getting better, I went through a similar thing with my dad last year so I can totally empathise (my dad dislikes hospital too!) - sending him wishes for a speedy recovery 😁. Your garden has missed you and I'm sure it's pleased you are back to work your magic. I love the watermelon by the way it looks so funny standing on its end 😉. Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J 😊
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your dad. Such an awful time for all of you I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteYour plants have survived well I think and weeds are plants as well and yours look happy where they are growing.
I always love your quotes and the ones today cracked me up--thank you for finding them and sharing them
Happy T Day
Love Chrissie xx
It was good to read that your dad is getting well again, it must have been worrying for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteYour garden will be sorted soon I'm sure as you spend so much time and love on your plants, be sure you don'y overdo things yourself.
I liked the photo of the water melon, it looks healthy even if it is growing up.
Happy T day.
Yvonne xx
Hoping your father does have to permanately stay on the oxygen-no fun getting older for sure. good that you were able to be with him for awhile.
ReplyDeletemy garden suffers too if I am not home hubs health is not good so he wouldn't be able to water or weed-my little veggie garden is control but other parts I never got to after my yellowstone trip as we didn't have rain and it was just too hot for me.
I am surprised you missed out on the rain as it sounded like most of mIssouri was getting it-this is the first rain we have had since May more rain coming ing
hugs to you Kathy
I missed you! Scary about your Dad. I understand him not wanting to go to the hospital... :) Glad you got to go and be there. Hope he does not need to be on oxygen 24/7 too long. Be careful getting caught up on the yard work and flower beds. Take care of your back. At least the heat has broken... I am going to try to send the rain your way! I do that changing the whole sentence if I am not sure about a word... :) I am a bit better about typing it into google in another tab to check. Take care, Carol!
ReplyDeleteGood to read that your Dad feels better - all the best for him!
ReplyDeleteSorry for your garden but don't worry too much about that- take care of yourself!
Happy T-Day!

Hope all goes well with your dad. My Dad refused to use his walker and got up one day, fell and broke his hip. He was as stubborn as your dad about all the care. But it must be hard to give up your independence too. Your garden looks as good as mine as far as weeds go, but when its hot and humid who wants to weed. I think that's part of the garden process. Hope your life gets a little bit smoother. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteIt's so tough when your folks are ailing. You want the best for them but they don't always want to listen to their "kid".
ReplyDeleteDarn those weeds. If only the wanted plants would grow that fast!!
Happy T day!
I'm sorry your dad's having a rough time, and I sympathize with you over a parent who always knows best -even when they don't.....
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your flowers. They are holding up well through the summer, and I always find it cheering when they look that good :)
Happy T Tuesday
Sorry to hear about your dad and what you've all been through. It sounds horrendous. Sorry too that they had to put in a permanent pacemaker.
ReplyDeleteYour poor garden :-( You must have been pretty upset to come home to that. Just don't overdo as you try to set things right again. You don't want to end up like your dad ;-)
The standing watermelon is pretty funny. It doesn't seem to have suffered too much from the drought.
happy T-day, Carol! Big hugs, Eileen
Oh Dear! Your do have a lot to do in your garden! Sorry to hear about your Dad - my dad hated his time in hospital too! Happy T Day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your dad has been so poorly. It happens so often that people don't want to go to hospital, but they they are finally forced to go it is so much worse tan if they would have gone immediately. But you can't make them go.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he is gradually improving. I hope he will be able to get off the oxygen son. That is such a 'pain'.
Oh dear, that garden is a mess. I can see you have a lot of work there. But, your dad was much more important, so put it down to just one of those things.
I loved your random thoughts and laughed at the last one. Luckily I am a good speller, as living in a non-English speaking country, my computer does not have an English spell checker.(Only the Word processor has a choice) In fact it drives me mad by putting capital letters where they shouldn't go and plonks accents randomly on vowels. Aaarh!
Belated happy T-Day,
Lisca
