Monarch butterfly opening.

Hello Tuesday Friends!!
I'm a bit late today as I was waiting on butterflies to make their appearance!

As you can see they have finally shown up.  Here's the photo after the wings were fully developed...
I dropped the phone while filming  ðŸ˜“
We had another open up yesterday and I knew the other two would open today so I waited to try and catch it happening. In the 4 years I've raised Monarchs, this is the first year I've gotten to watch the opening. Unfortunately the other one was deformed and didn't make it 😢😢😢
Like I said before this year has been a learning year for sure.
Here is yesterdays butterfly....
I have a video of him feeding but I can't get it to load for some reason. My computer doesn't like me today .

It appears to be a very active day with the caterpillars too.
I have three cages that have cats with the J-hook formation and they are turning into Chrysalis ...

If they all turn today that will be 17 new Chrysalis and I have 7  that have already turned.
So now that the butterfly business has been documented I can get this post done and get back outside to work.  I have flowers that need planting :)
Here's what's blooming today...

...at least a few of them anyhow ♥
I did take the time to sketch out a butterfly on paper. I will paint it and fussy cut it out to use in a collage.
So that's what's happening in my world this week . So don't forget to check out the other great post at

  1. How wonderful to be able to see a butterfly emerging from the cocoon, thanks for sharing the video and the photos, BIG wow. It was surely a lot of work getting them so far, well done. Love the butterfly sketch you made, too. Have a good week and happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  9. My sincere apologies. After I got home and sat down at my computer, I promptly fell asleep in the chair. Just now woke up.

What a joy to see the butterflies come into the world. Nature is wonderful, isn't it?

Your flowers are gorgeous. My peonies are gone already. They only lasted about four days. I was SO disappointed. They may have been blooming while I was gone, but now they are gone and I haven't had a chance to enjoy any of them.

I still haven't started my garden, but hope to buy some seeds and herbs later in the week. I see you are still planting your garden, too, so that gives me hope.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your butterfly drawing. I also am truly impressed with the background papers behind it. And I got a chuckle out of that yarn inspired coffee mug.

Thanks for sharing your butterflies, your art, and your flowers with us, as well as your coffee mug for T this Tuesday.

  12. The butterfly emerging in the video is amazing! You have coneflowers already? Yay! Well, I think the butterflies stole this post. CH cut our butterfly bushes back so much that they are having a hard time coming back and we lost a couple of crepe myrtles over the winter... maybe that will mean less Japanese beetles! Good Morning!
