dragging in here as I'm fighting another sinus infection.....AGAIN 😷  I haven't been out of my PJ's for 3 days now.  Which makes for a very grumpy Carol 😒
Thanksgiving was great though ♥
It's always great to be with family and when you add in great food too it's all a win-win!
I didn't take any pictures at all for Thanksgiving. I was too busy living it to stop and capture it.
The bright side was my parents gave me my grandmothers Treadle Sewing machine.
My sister had the machine part repaired and tuned up .... now I get to restore the top of the cabinet as it is severely sun bleached and worn. I don't have a picture of that part yet as it's still in the back of the truck 😒
Hopefully today we will get it out. It has rained the past 3 days so we just left it there . The back of our new truck has a nice hard top cover.
The drink in the photo is coffee of course. Although I have been drinking a lot of hot tea the past few days.
Before the holiday I did get the rest of the garden put to bed. I wait until after a hard freeze and then heavy mulch some of my more tender perennials .
The roses are still  looking almost alive here but don't today.

The Hydrangeas are mulched more heavily and I may even add some more wire to the top one and fill it completely. It is an older type that only blooms on the old wood and needs more protection than the newer types. That one came from my uncle in Kentucky who transplanted it from my grandmothers house right before they sold it in the mid 1970's . It's really a warmer climate plant but with attention can survive and bloom this far north. I wouldn't buy one but since it's originally from my grandmother I try hard to keep it alive.  I really need to move it closer to the house for the added protection.
My two favorite seed catalogs came this week . So my spring shopping list has already started.
Well my brain has petered out on me so I'll sign of  here.
Random thoughts for today...

Don't forget to visit the other folks at
I'm sure they're brains are still working at full capacity 😸

  1. Love this old treadle machine. I have my Grandmother's. It's a New Home, and I love just admiring it, although I did buy a new belt for it last year.

Glad to read you had a great Thanksgiving. I took lots of photos for once, and loved every minute of it. I forgot to take photos of the food, though. DUH!!

Glad your garden beds are now all put to bed and your seed catalogs have arrived.

Thanks for sharing your random thoughts, your treadle machine, your garden, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday. Now you can go back to bed and rest, PLEASE!

  2. Those nasty sinus infections-ugh! Glad you were able to enjoy the holiday though. And I LOVE the old treadle machine!! My great grandmother had one but sadly it's long gone.
I must remember your advice on the hydrangeas. I lost mine last year and do so want to replace it this coming spring.
Feel better, and happy T day!

  3. So sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather. good thing you got your garden chores done. I was delighted with your 'countdown' to spring! these days it's all about the countdown to Christmas ;) Happy T day and feel better soon!!

  6. I LOVE counting down to spring. And seed catalogs sound PERFECT! I also love the sewing machine. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you get it all fixed up. Is it for sewing or decoration and just wonderful to have a bit of the past? Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  7. What a wonderful present, I love your Treadle Sewing machine and to think your Grandmother used it too - perfect! I'm pleased to hear that you got all your gardening finished for Spring and that you can now rest and fight off your sinus infection, wishing you a speedy recovery! I love the last thought of the day and truly believe that we always have something to be thankful for :-). Happy T Day! J :-)

  8. Your treadle sewing machine looks wonderful, a super thing to keep in the family. Hope you feel better soon.

    Yvonne xx

  9. Hope that sinus infection is soon a thing of the past. The sewing machine is a treasure, as is your plant. I can see where a spot close to the house would shield it more. I haven't planted seeds in years, but I remember how much enjoyment I used to get poring over the catalogs during the winter. Happy T Tuesday!

  10. Sorry to hear of your sinus infection! Your sewing machine is fabulous - lucky you! Good news about Spring coming as quickly as that! Hugs, Chrisx

  11. Sorry to hear of your sinus infection! Your sewing machine is fabulous - lucky you! Good news about Spring coming as quickly as that! Hugs, Chrisx

  12. I'm sorry to hear you are not well. Sinus trouble is really awful. Hope it passes soon.
Your sewing machine looks grand. Those old machines will go on forever if you look after them (no electronics to go wrong and no 'inbuilt obsolesence'. They were built to last.
I love your 'words of wisdom', as always.
    Happy T-Day

  13. Oh, Carol! I hope the sinus infection loses it's grip on you soon. No fun to feel ill. I love your sewing machine, we have one just like it here. I am also happy to hear you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, too!

  14. Good Morning, Carol! Sorry about the sinus infection. CH seems to have been spared sinus issues this fall. Your sewing machine is beautiful. So happy you have had rain, we haven't had a drop. Lovely that you have one of your Grandmother's Hydrangeas! Happy you had a great Thanksgiving, we did too! Your second random thought puts things in perspective for me. I should write it down and tape it to my bathroom mirror.

  15. Aaahh hubby is fighting the sinuses too... for quite a while now unfortunately .... Fall allergies don't get me... they get me for about 3 weeks in the Spring..uuughh something to look forward to...NOT...We used to have one of those sewing machines but it had no sentimental value so we let it go when we found out it wasn't worth much... AND i don't sew...lol I'm glad you explained about the Hydrangea as i always thought they were quite hardy... Enjoy your catalogs! Happy Belated Tday!! Hugs! deb

  16. I can't help getting excited when the seed catalogs arrive. :)
