Hello again my Tuesday Friends :)
We are finally getting some cooler weather here. Nights are chilly and days are beautiful. It's still overly dry so I'm watering the perennials to keep them alive.
Actually there are a lot of them blooming again but not with the full summer vigor. Some of the annuals are still going strong.
I love the Sweet Alyssums that just keep spreading and reseeding themselves all summer.
The perennials are not looking as well....
Looking at the photo of St. Francis I noticed that a tomato plant has sprouted up there and has green tomatoes on it. A gift from nature that probably would have been pulled had I seen it while out there. :)
I've been busy cleaning out the veggie garden so I can cover with cardboard and plastic . The ongoing battle to get rid of that dratted Bermuda Grass that is taking over. I actually broke out the round up for some of the heavy areas :'( That area will be covered and unused for at least 2 years if not three.
The stack in the right hand corner is cardboard and pallet boards and more cardboard will be coming home tomorrow. Along with more black plastic .
Other areas are cleaned up and just waiting for straw bales and spring to arrive. The old kiddy pool will probably become a strawberry bed next spring if I don't decided to plant something else instead.
The last of the Blackeyed Susans and the Echinacea.
The ornamental grasses really at their best ♥
The plants around the fishpond are more than a little overgrown and will need some major TLC this week as the leaves are starting to fall so it's time to cover the pond so it doesn't fill up. The sole remaining gold fish will go into a tank in the basement for the winter.
We can't have a post with out Mini Me and here she is leased up in the back yard watching me work hard.
She had a ball chasing the leaves and grasshoppers around the yard.

Love seeing your gardens. They still look so green and summery. Here we are really getting colder and frosty and all the garden plants are starting to turn. Love seeing more of Mini Me too. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteImpressive cleanup in your gardens. I haven't even started mine yet, but plan to later in the week. Love the way you cover your veggie gardens. I need large cardboard like that, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to see something in a photo you missed while taking them. It happens to me all the time. So, will you pull the tomato plant or pick the tomatoes?
Thanks for sharing your wonderful garden cleanup and your recycled cup with us for T this soon to be Tuesday.
Oh, Mini Me just melts my heart! What a sweetie. You're way ahead of me with the cleanup, I have to get at it, but haven't got the heart yet. I know I'll be sorry when snow starts to fly. Thank you for reminding me of sweet alyssum, I love that plant too and haven't added any to the gardens in a few years.
ReplyDeleteLovely post, the garden is looking great, and your Mini Me is very handsome! Happy T Day. Hugs, Valerie

you work very hard in your yard and with your garden it's no wonder you have such beautiful plantings and produce Carol! Love that ornamental grass:) Mini mi is adorable and looks quite happy. I'm sure he brings lots of joy each day. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your garden still has flowers in bloom. It must be hard work preparing for winter in a large garden, still I'm sure that it all makes it easier for next year.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day.
Yvonne xx
You sure do have your work cut out for you in your lovely gardens. So much work and so much pleasure there. Your ornamental grass is really pretty and must look and sound nice in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteYour doggie is darling all dressed up and posing pretty as you please...she's a cutie!
Our weather sounds similar with chilly chilly nights.
We did get some much needed rain in the last week, but the plants were already stressed out from no water.
Happy T Day dear Carol oxo
Wow you still have such lovely flowers in your garden and the ornamental grass is wonderful! Mini Mi is very cute and looks such a bundle of joy! Wishing you a Happy T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeleteYou still have a lot of color in your garden. I really like the ornamental grass. Mini Me is adorable. I agree with your random thought although this time we found that nature connection at the beach.
ReplyDeleteA kiddie pool is a great idea for a strawberry bed! I love the ornamental grass as well. The color and form is perfect for Fall. Your random thought also really hit home. I shut off the wifi at home every once in a while...it's amazing...the teenagers come out and actually do something face to face. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
WoW! You have conquered a lot, and still have much to go, but at least there is still some color left for you to enjoy as you work. The ornamental grasses are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the random thought....so true!

I love your random thought. We have recently spent 4 days on a campsite where there was no wifi. So relaxing....
Happy T-Day,
Have a good week,
Blessings,

Your garden is still looking pretty good! Those grasses are spectacular! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYour grasses look beautiful, ours did not do too well this year. I think it had something to do with CH burning then down instead of cutting them back! Mini Me is a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI've had internet issues and missed tea Tuesday entirely. I enjoyed this post, always interested in what people do with their yards :)
