Hello again Tuesday friends :)
It's been a long hot week but we've finally gotten a break with the temps.
So I was able to finally get back outside and get some things done. :)
For my drink for this week I've changed up the herbal tea a bit by adding Raspberry Zinger to the mix. So now it's Lemon , Ginger, Raspberry Zinger. Yum!!!!!!
Soon I'll be mixing up my own tea blends again but I'm still loving these I've been drinking this summer.
The garden is finally starting to produce some veggies and fruits now.
Today I made blackberry jelly and canned some fresh green beans.
Small batches but that's better for me .. the big ones wear me out anymore.
..and the zucchini has gone crazy again..
I sweat this guy was only 6 inches long yesterday and then today.....
.... I guess we'll be eating stuffed squash one day this week :)
My compost pile has gotten too big and has become difficult to turn so I started a new one today.
In the lower right hand corner you can see a bit of my stock pile of cardboard for mulching and starting new beds.
In the flower gardens the Naked Ladies are popping up and blooming.
I'll have to dig up and transplant several as they are buried now in larger flowers and you can't see them. These are in the milkweed bed and add a bit of beauty to an otherwise boring flowerbed.
The little rose bush is blooming again :)
The tomato worms seem to have run their course and it seems that the lizard is probably happy. He seems to have lost his interest in eating them...
I really wanted to add more garden photos tonight but the internet is so slow and I"m losing my patience with it.
So I'll just give you the Random Thoughts for today and be done.

I'll be turning the old one in a day or two and when I do I'll take some of it and add it to the new one to speed things up a bit there. Plus making the old one easier to turn.

Looks like you had a hot and busy week, and got lots done. Love your lizard. It's still hot here, it's supposed to cool off today but no sign of that yet! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteeach time i see your garden work my back hurts, haha. i just admire your energy! love your quotes, as always.
ReplyDeletehappy t-day!
You're always SO busy Carol, whether it be work, art, gardening or canning and drying herbs. You make me tired-or look lazy:):) I'm still waiting on zucchini here but it should be any day now. Love the random thoughts. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see how you preserve all your lovely garden produce to enjoy later. Super photos of your flowers and thoughts for today.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day

Lots of work but you have a beautiful garden as a result. I like the picture of the lizard. I see one once in awhile but I'm hardly ever able to capture a picture of on.
ReplyDeleteYou can too Carol!
ReplyDeleteI'll just call you Wonderwoman :-)
Can't believe it's Naked Lady time in the garden again already.
I used to have some but I think they got choked out by other "stuff".
I was wondering how you did away with your plethora of tomato worms. Lizard Lizard is a big help recycling those hah.
Happy T Day oxo
p.s. yesterday our heat index was 112 ACK!
Happy T-day Carol!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, Naked Ladies are one of my DH's favorites. Mom gave me some years ago, not sure what happened to them now that I think about it.....LOL
Fresh veggies are always so good. If we ever get that new house (still in the very beginning stages of building it....as still on paper :( ) I am planning on having a garden again. Last summer I started making, what the GDs and I call, spaginni. We took a mandolin and shredded the zucchini and used it as spaghetti. It was one way to get them to eat zucchini, as they told me they didn't like it.....but they both ate two plates full.....LOL.
Hope the rest of your week is fantastic.......I love the little sketch by your glass of tea (that tea mix sounds yummy)
My yard is screaming for some Naked Ladies.. I see them alot around here (Arkansas) and i want some...I wish i knew if the deer would eat them... i guess i'm just going to have to try it out...lol So glad to hear your garden is doing well...We are having a little break from the temps too...so nice and possible afternoon showers... i'll take it!! :) Happy happy Tday! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteLoving this break in the heat and we also got an inch and quarter rain! Ahhhhhhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteRaspberry Zinger sounds refreshing :) I love blackberry jellies and jams but have never made it myself. I think I may want to borrow a lizard for my hornworms ;) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden! Well done you! (although I feel tired just thinking of the work involved).
ReplyDeleteThe zucchine is grand! You will be eating zucchini more than once I guess.
I love the photo of the lizard.
Your quotes are very wise as usual.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
I so enjoyed the art you created, and the garden compost pile is looking so inviting. I don't turn mine, so it takes about a year for everything to break down. But I don't have room for turning and am lucky I even have room for compost containers. Where do you get your cardboard? My friend Sally just sent some of hers to the recycler, and I about cried!
ReplyDeleteI don't have enough blackberries at one time to make jam or jelly, because I still only get about three or four a week. At some point, I'll have to figure out what to do with the tomatoes, though.
My naked ladies are not popping up yet, so your garden is earlier than mine in that respect.
Thanks for sharing your zinger with us, as well as your garden, for T this Tuesday.
Carol- i couldn't find an email for you so please email me at neenfrance(at)yahoo(dot)com and I'll send you my snail mail addy:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy week! Love your photos! Your positive messages are great! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like you've been busy! It's great you preserve all that wonderful produce you grow, that way you can enjoy it throughout the year. I love making jams and jellies, I think it tastes more delicious when you've made it yourself! Happy belated T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day
Blackberry jelly--mmm yummy. It's amazing how fast zucchini grow. Our cukes are doing that too now. I'm starting to wonder if I need to pick them twice a day instead of only once!
