T Stands for Tuesday

It's Tuesday again and it' winter again :(
Over the weekend we were in the mid 70's with SUNSHINE!
Not so much today.
When I went out for my morning 10 minute walk it was only 26° a very big difference.
Even yesterday was warmer with 40° temps. So after my morning walk yesterday I decided to clean up the front flowerbed. I always leave the dead plants with flower heads for the birds. They are totally picked over now so it was time for them to go.
I also discovered signs of Springs impending arrival.....

.... these sights always bring a smile to my spirit and face.
I decided to check on the north side flower beds too. Last year they had become totally overgrown with weeds after my injury. So much so that in the late fall we just decided to pile leaves on it and torch it. Praying that the bulbs underground would be fine....

...the daffodils  are popping up !!! Hopefully the day lilies will too. I have to trim back the roses and replace the trellis that broke in one of the fall wind storms and  a good layer of mulch is in order too.
While wondering around the yard I also managed to step in a mole hole and slightly twist my knee... so it is bugging me today but didn't keep me from my 2.... 10 minute walks today. It feels good to get outside and moving around and building up a bit of my lost strength again.
Today I'm working on some oils for a new soap recipe. It's a "SMUDGE"  soap... scented with sage and cedar. .. the traditional ingredients in a Native American Smudge Stick.

The cedar and the sage are from my garden and wooded areas... they steeped for several hours in warming olive oil. Tomorrow I will try making  the soap.  I wish I had some sage and cedar Essential Oils but I don't. Will be adding those to my wish list though :)

The blue cup holds coffee instead of tea today.. I'm thinking I may have refilled it too many times :-/

  2. I'm so sorry I am late getting here. I had to take a break and rest. I also looked to see if I had any sage EO, but I didn't find any. Where do you get your lye? I can't buy it locally anymore, because the meth cookers have put the soap makers out of business.

I love that cobalt blue and white mug. That is my favorite color (that blue). I look forward to reading about your soap and would love it if you would share the recipe, because I have cedar AND sage.

Thanks for sharing your day with us for T this Tuesday. I hope your knee is better now.

    1. You can get Lye on Amazon Elizabeth. I am still able to buy it locally but only in small bottles which is ok by me. I can get a whole lot of soap out of one bottle. Is your email working yet? I'll send you the recipe if it is.

  3. The weekend was wonderful. Monday we went to St. Louis and it was like December... brrrrrrr. I am going to get back to walking, your idea of two ten minute walks appeals to me. Doesn't feel so overwhelming. I haven't seen any green around yet but we are still covered in Oak leaves! Good Morning!

  4. It's so nice to see those signs of Spring since we are waist deep in snow right now! Soap making has always been on my list of things to try, but I'm really trying to reduce my craft supply right now. Maybe that will inspire me!
    Hope you knee heals quickly!

  6. Hello and Happy T day a little late. How nice for you to see peeks of spring in your yard, YAY! Can't wait to see some in ours, will be a couple months but I keep thinking about it. Our weather was nice on Saturday, almost 40 and sunshine, felt so good to be out like you said. Woke up Sunday and it was hovering over 20 all day and COLD and ICE, YUCK!! Makes a big difference doesn't it, thankful I did get out on Saturday and enjoyed while it lasted.
Take care and enjoy your week.

    1. Our winter is back today too. Suppose to get really cold tonight and tomorrow so I piled some leaves on the green stuff just in case.

  7. I'm so glad I popped back to Elizabeth's to see if anyone else had posted for T day. I bet your home smells delightful with all your herbs and concoctions steeping away. I wish I could smell it from here, lol. No signs of Spring yet here, but it won't be too long I hope, I'm a little tired of being cold now, *grin*
I do hope your knee feels better soon. Happy belated T day :o))
