Just when I think I'm caught up with the planting we start another major landscaping project :0)
Our House on Sunday.... and then on Monday we started ripping everything out....
There are still a few plants at the far left corner that have to be dug up and potted until the "build" is completed.
Today they delivered the first loads of dirt and gravel.
Tomorrow they will deliver 3764 lbs of boulders for landscaping and the sand needed for laying the pave stones.
The new porch will be built with retaining wall stones and will be curved and much bigger than the old one.
We will have raised beds the full length of the house.
So all of the plants we dug up and then some extras will go back into the beds.
Well except the two huge hydrangea bushes that took forever to dig out. They will go in the back where they will get more afternoon shade and be happier.
Haven't decided for sure what I am replacing them with out front.
This is definitely a working vacation!!
Oh and I almost forgot ....
IT'S RUBY TUESDAY
How they looked before I dug them up....FYI hollyhocks do not transplant well :0(
I can't wait to see the finished product. Sounds like a ton of work, but will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteWow! You've got your work cut out for you! Sounds like it will be very pretty when it is all finished, though. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen we moved into our current place we did the same work but did not have to dig up and save the plants. There weren't any. Not a single thing but overgrown weed patches. So I understand the amount of work involved but I know you will enjoy the results. I sure do.
ReplyDeletePlus, I'm surprised at the number of folks who stop by to tell us they like what we did, and are still adding. We are on the main drag and this yard was a mess for decades so apparently everyone in town noticed the changes.
I can't wait to see the final result.
