T Stands for Tuesday

YES!!! It's time for T on Tuesday again :)
Or coffee as it's what's being served here today :)
Also showing one of my favorite gardening books. Which I have been re-reading this month to brush up on what all I have to do to be ready for the new season. The journal shows one of my faces for 29 Faces in February which I'm trying to keep up with again this year. So far so good!!!
Mini and I checked out the flowerbeds today and things are kind of confused out there with all of the warm weather we've been having.
The Daffodils are up and getting tall...
The Live Forever's are popping out....
The Bee Balm is waking up...
...and the Iris are saying here we are too!
We didn't take any more pictures but there was lots of stuff growing out there already.
I've been working on getting the milk jugs ready to plant in this week. I was really hoping for colder weather so a few will have to go in the spare fridge downstairs in it's freezer as those seed do best when frozen  before sprouting.
Here's some of last years jugs ...
Only part of the ones I did. This method of seed starting has worked very well for me the past 3 years and each year I try more kinds of seeds this way.
I ran across an interesting photo of an old
"Victory Garden "  garden layout plan that was provided by the government during WWII . Encouraging everyone to grow their own food.
This was a plan for a pretty good sized garden to feed 5 people.  I may use it as a guideline for some of my planting. The short season lettuces and things like that.
As you can tell, I'm ramping up for full time garden season and it will be here soon :) Maybe sooner than normal if Mother Nature keeps the heat turned on.
Today's Random Thoughts

Now dash on over to Elizabeth's and see what everyone else is up to this week!

  2. Your yard is looking a lot like mine. I noticed today that there were stems and green leaves showing through the dead leaves I didn't rake up last fall.

Your garden is going to be fabulous again, I'm sure. I don't have enough space for all that, though. I'm certainly impressed with everything you might accomplish.

Wow, that victory garden looks like it would take a lot of work, and rotating crops is something I don't seem to be very good at doing. I planned to do that last year, but ran out of gas when the heat of summer hit.

Thanks for sharing your garden thoughts, your face, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday. I know you need it because you do so much in your garden.

BTW, I love the last random thought!

  3. Lovely post, you will have a lot of work to do in your garden, glad green is sprouting again. It's still very cold here, but my bulbs are starting to peek out, too. Love your art, as always. Happy T Gay, hugs, Valerie

  4. Spring is coming! It's lovely to see daffodils and irises popping up. Not long now....
I loved to see that old victory garden plan. I copied the image. Of course it will be no good in our climate, but the idea is great.
Your random thoughts are great as always.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

  6. OK, I am officially jealous. We are getting 4-6 inches of new snow and my daffs won't even peek up until maybe late April or early May. Unless our weather suddenly changes. You are so lucky!!!! Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  7. There are signs of spring popping up here and there around the world. I also have daffodils shooting upwards, along with freesias and irises.
What a wonderful garden you are going to have.
    Happy T-day

  11. I'm a bit jealous of all the green popping up in your beds already! I was just starting to think about seed starting...or at least getting my timeline together. I don't start any seeds for another 6 weeks...
    Happy T day!

  12. Having a 71 degree day yesterday distracted me from the computer! I saw a few buds on our daffs on the south side of the house. I did remind myself that we have had them blooming in the snow before but hard not to get excited about spring.
You sure have some great green popping Carol.
29 Faces for February = WOWEE that is great.
I think you are on your way to another wonderful "victory" garden of your own.
    Happy February oxo

  13. 29 faces in 28 days - that's ambitious, Carol. I might make it through day 3 ;-) You have ambitious plans for the garden too. Your property is just lovely. Can't wait to see what grows!

    Happy T Day. xox Eileen

  14. It's great to see signs of Spring on it's way - I hope there are no severe frosts but we do have bad weather forecast here for the weekend! My Dad used to have a very regimented garden and I remember he had a notebook with all sorts of plans in (must ask my brother if he has it) Love the random thoughts! Belated happy T Day! Chrisx
