However the Garden is coming alive without me.
My first Iris of the season is in bloom and I should have a bunch more by the weekend :)
The lilac that survived the late frost are blooming and making the yard smell so wonderful.
The last of the tulips are starting to open. The white ones always seem to be the last ones to show their beauty.
And finally one of the beds of garlic. This is a new bed using the "Lasagna Gardening" method. The garlic seems to be thriving on this method :)
Now if only Mother Nature will co-operate and send in the sunshine and warmer weather so I can get everything else planted. Or the next pictures you see may be of me outside in a rain suit planting.
The strawberries are loaded with blooms already. I mean very loaded with blooms:) We'll be eating and freezing lots of strawberries this spring for sure.

I went to clean out the grill last week and I discovered this little wrens nest. So we will have to wait until the babies hatch and leave home before we can use the big grill. Hoping to get baby pictures soon :)

You have lilacs? Oh, please smell them once more for me this time.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do with all those strawberries!
I love strawberries. We haven't planted any, but there is a u-pick patch a few miles away, so we go pick every year. The flowers are gorgeous. It's about time, don't you think? I know what you mean about the rain..work..rain..work..me too!
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, oh... just found a lilac sorbet recipe for you... http://www.herbcompanion.com/cooking/lilac-sorbet.aspx
ReplyDeleteI know, I know, it seems a little cool outside to think about sorbet.
Oh but it sounds so yummy and can be kept in the freezer for warmer days! No one sees the back side of the bush and the blooms are also thicker there because the frost didn't get them :) I'll be gathering lilac blossoms tonight when I get home!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is flourishing, Carol. Oh, those lucky wren babies! What a wonderful surprise! My lilac got whacked back and may not bloom for a long time! So I'll just enjoy yours like TG. I hope to have a lot of strawberries to make jam this year! The weather is bound to change! Keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! Don't you love the spring!
ReplyDeleteI will be anxiously waiting the report on the lilac sorbet come one sunny day in July.
