T Stands for Tuesday --- A walk in the garden... and other places.

Hello again my Tuesday Friends!
It's wet and green in our world right now. Mother Nature has been trying hard to get us out of our official drought status 😊
We've gotten approximately 4 inches of rain since last week and everything is turning GREEN, GREEN, GREEN!
It has made it a bit difficult to  get any work done out there but we have managed a bit  .
I did get one of the new deep raised beds built.
It has well rotted logs in the bottom of it and will be filled with amended top soil for good drainage. We'll see how this experiment goes. It will be after the second year before I can really tell as the wood should have finished rotting by then. Lots of nitrogen was added to the rotten logs to speed with breakdown and to keep the end soils more balanced.
Mini and I did a walk about  today between rain showers.. She loves to walk in the water 😊

By the end of the walk she looks like a drowned rat . LOL!
The fish pond is full of frogs...leaves too still but that will be another project for a sunny day.

The apple trees are full of blooms ♥...
...the Redbuds are opening up and the woods are looking purple.

The over flow creek is running wild and Blue Bells are blooming in the deep woods.

This little section of the woods won't be cleared out completely ... it is where The ginseng garden will go this fall. It takes 7 years for the ginseng to  mature so it will be called the
Practicing Patience Garden.
Still no potatoes planted... mud is not good to work in but I'm not complaining. We have gone from severe drought to moderate drought in one week.
I did  finish the Garden Journal cover and here it is with my ever present cup of coffee.

Today's Random Thoughts

So now that you've seen all I have to offer today...hop on over and visit the other folks at...

  1. Glad the rain is turning your garden green, and that Mini enjoys walking in it. Lovely to see all the blooms, and I love the idea of a 'practising patience' garden! Lovely cover for your journal, hugs, Valerie

  2. Holy cow. You got a LOT done, because I haven't had a single day it hasn't rained a LOT. We had floods several days last weekend and it's rained every day since last Tuesday. It's even too wet and cold to be outside right now. I really LOVE your raised beds. I'd love to have some of that old lumber. You have put yours to great use.

The lady who talked about container gardening in my free workshop also talked about raised beds. She said no more than 4'sq was what to shoot for. If I did that, I'd have two raised beds in my garden. I'm hoping for a few plants in the ground this year, rather than in pots.

I think your random thoughts are all very cute this week. But most of all, I am really impressed with your latest garden journal cover. It's a beauty. And that's a gorgeous mug, with a moody feel to it.

Thanks for sharing your art, your raised bed, and your mug of coffee with us for T this Tuesday.

  3. Love to see your fantastic garden! Happy T-Day -oxo Susi

  4. You have had a lot of rain hope it done for now and you have sunnier days.

    Happy T Day

    Love Chrissie xx

  5. The rain has turned everything green. The photos you shared looked lovely. Your apple trees in flower look so pretty, mine are still at the bud stage.
    Happy T day.
    Yvonne xx

  6. Loving all the green! I'm curious how your raised bed with the rotting wood works. I can't wait to get out walking (once the mud dries out) and into the garden(once the snow melts). So I enjoyed seeing your post today. Gardening vicariously! Happy T day, hugs-Erika

  7. Green, green! How lovely! You have a few projects going. I am intrigued by the Ginseng thing. Please tell us more.
The blossom is gorgeous and the photo of Mini is gorgeous too.
Well if the overflow creek is flowing it means you are no longer in a drought.
Your journal cover is great. And I love your random thoughts, especially the top one.
    Happy T-Day,

  8. Love the idea of the Practicing Patience Garden! It looks wet and that's a good thing for the drought but I am not going to say I am getting tired of it... but I am, shhhh. I want to get outside and do some things! Sweet little Blue Bells! Our redbud and dogwood is just beginning to pop. Can't believe Mini likes to walk in water!

  9. It's greening up around here too, rain all day yesterday really got the grass growing.

  10. Looks like the garden and budding of Spring is coming along beautifully Carol! Great looking garden book cover. Sweet Mini- I can't believe she loves getting wet:) Happy T day!

  11. Loved the walkabout your yard Carole... what will you do with the ginseng once it matures?? Our woods are turning white with dogwood mostly some redbud thrown in there too though.. love the bright spots...Yes, we've had some too.. the lake has come up some but not nearly enough... more rain expected this week... Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb

  12. Lovely raindrops, frogs, redbuds, bluebells and ginseng OH MY!
So much to enjoy in your neck of the woods.
Mini wet as a rat made me giggle.
The rainfall is helping our drought situation here as well...still always to go though.
    Lovely journal cover Carol.
I am really feeling the trying to be informed but stay sane thing these days.
Happy T Day to ya oxo

  13. I do always love seeing your garden and woods. Ginseng sounds worth waiting for. I love redbuds. We have a lot of them around here. I don't think I've ever seen bluebells, though. So sweet!

    Happy T Tuesday!

  14. I'm impressed by your knowledge of gardening and soil, etc., Carol. I used to have a large vegetable garden with strawberries, asparagus, potatoes, etc. but I never messed with the soil. I just used what Mother Nature provided, plus rotated crops. We had apple trees too. Apple pie - yum!

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  15. Your garden and woodland is really coming to life, it's so nice to see all the greenery and lovely blossoms! Your journal cover is beautiful with the delicate white patterns you have created :-) . Wishing you happiness this T Day! J :-)

  16. Well I think you could be just a little busy for a while! Loved seeing your photos although I did shoot past those frogs quickly!!! Your journal will keep you on track! Happy T Day! Chrisx

    1. Thanks so much Chris! It always amuses me at the things people don't like to see the frogs :)

  17. Just popped back to tell you that Rae Missigman's challenge is for 30 days -the list is on her blog. If you are joining in you could start with today's and catch up the other 4 another time! She suggests small journals and limiting your time so it seemed ideal for me! Day 3 took me longer as I messed up the stamping and had to restamp and stick - I just couldn't leave it! Oh! The frog thing came from my gran as she used to scream if she saw one - I'm not that bad! Hope this is helpful!Hugs, Chrisx
