T Stands for Tuesday

Hello my Tuesday FRIENDS!!!
First off
THANK YOU
for your well wishes and prayers for my hubby!! He is doing much better this week  and less reliant on the pain medications. He has entered that I'm bored and miserable and I'm trying hard not to be mean stage. So far he has pretty much managed to be good.
Both of us had "cabin fever" over the weekend as the ice storm kept us inside. I only ventured out when it was necessary to take the dogs out.
This is what I got to see as we slipped and slid across the yard.
The back steps that only this guy was brave enough to use and even he had difficulty.
The tall ornamental grass all smashed down from the weight of the ice :(
The birds chipping through the ice on the feeders..twice I had to go out and break the ice off the seeds so they could get to them.
Grass that had greened back up with last weeks  70°F temperatures. Now coated with ice.

The lavender all coated and laying down.
The Wisteria sparkling in what little sunshine there was. (below)

The backwoods all covered and sparkling. We lost a few big branches back there and smaller branches all over the place but all in all minimal damage. Thankfully it warmed up enough between  ice waves to melt off  most of it before the next batch landed. If it hadn't we would have had some serious damage I fear.
So we stayed in and I cooked a lot and we ate a lot and then I painted.
Another painting from my
Mindy Lacefield
class.
I'm not sure if I'm done with her or not... letting it rest a day or two . My backgrounds are getting looser like I want  but the faces aren't getting there yet but I like her.
So that's it for me this week.
Today's Random Thoughts

Now Rush on over to visit
Elizabeth and friends....
at
Where everyone is sharing their drinks and their lives this week.
I'm still drinking out of the Snowman cup...

  3. what a cute snowman cup-and so appropriate for your weather! Oh the poor pups having to navigate in the ice. Yor photos are pretty looking but we all know how dangerous ice can be. We lucked out and have only gotten rain during the night and today despite an ice warning. Your girl painting is quite lovely. Happy T day-oh, and I really love the first random thought!

  4. Happy to hear your husband continues to make progress :)

Ice is so pretty, but so dangerous. We've had ice storms here, and I can sympathize with what you're dealing with. The birds are grateful for your efforts, I'm sure :)

    Happy T Tuesday!

  5. Your snowman cup seems just right for your winter wonderland conditions. Ice can be so treacherous and damaging.
    Great news about the patient!
Fun painting and being loose while painting is a real skill I believe.
Great random thoughts that all resonate with me.
Especially inspired by the carry only what you need which goes with my quest for simplicity (such a BIG job it turns out).
Happy T Day from grey and rainy Virginia

  6. I'm delighted that your husband is to the bored stage and not pain stage of his recovery. Of course, it would be a disaster for him to be out and about, since it's so slippery out.

Looks like you had it worse than we did in Wichita. It is finally not raining here, but it's predicted for later in the week. I hope you don't get another round, because those steps look brutal. Of course, the trees and such look very similar to what I had. So, please stay safe.

LOVED the random thought about a reality show. It had me laughing and thinking what if it was true? I loved it.

Thanks for sharing your ice, your lovely painting, and your snowman coffee with us for T this Tuesday.

  8. Ice truly impacts life. Do you have to cut back the ornamental grass before new growth each year?

I really like the colors in your painting. Fun to sit back with a piece and see if it calls you back to do more.

  9. The ice photos are both eerie and beautiful. Hope there's not too much damage. 70 F one week and then an ice storm the next! That's quite a shock for the plants and for you!

I like your painting and the loose background. I can't do loose - yet! I tend to overwork things. Happy T Day, Carol!

  11. Wow! What a lot of ice! No I wouldn't venture down those steps either. It's good you are staying indoors. Good excuse to do more painting.

  12. The snowman cup is cute and looks perfect to use with those icy photos. Wow-it looks like it would be scary to walk out there. Glad the hubby is recouping. When my hubby had his heart surgery he got to that point and I can relate how hard it is to be patient. happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  13. That ice looks very familiar, Carol. I think it could have been a catastrophic storm had the wind picked up or the temps hadn't warmed up! Snowman cup is darling and I like your painting!
