It's still very chilly out here and snow flurries are in the forecast again. But the garden is steadily showing signs of springs arrival.
The garlic is going full steam and most measures over 6 inches tall. I planted twice as much as last year so I will definitely have garlic to share if Mother Nature co-operates.
Tulips and daffodils are showing up everywhere. Can't wait to see the blooms showing off.
Carrots are starting to pop up. A friend told me to plant the seeds in the late fall and I get an earlier crop. I had never tried that and was very skeptical but thought I'd give it a shot anyhow. Maybe he knew what he was talking about?
The parsley is doing great and it was so tempting to pick a small bunch..but I held off. I also have broccoli popping up but the little plants just blended in with the mulch in the pictures. But I know they are there.
So hoping that real spring weather will get here fast and that this year will be a fantastic garden year !

Yeah, garlic and parsley and carrots! Who knew, Carol! Very exciting!
ReplyDeleteFall planting is a great idea. Unfortunately my garden is in the neighbors 27 acres cornfield so I wait each spring for him to complete his soil preperation.
ReplyDeletebtw I really like your artwork.
Good luck! I hope your garden flourishes. We've started a few plants in pots, but no outside, yet.
ReplyDeleteBunnies are loving the early carrots too :-( If I do it again I"ll have to put up a screen to keep them out!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it exciting to see the first spots of green in the garden? Most of mine is still covered with snow but we're having a warmer week so more snow will melt. Love the buds on the maple shot and the green heron pic! Jean
